Gwalior: After the introduction of cheetahs from Namibia and South Africa at the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh's Gwalior, a first of its kind multi-specialty veterinary hospital is coming up in the state to cater to the wild animals at the national park, officials said. Officials said that the Multi Super Specialty Veterinary Hospital will be the first not only in the state but also in the country.
Eight cheetahs were translocated to the Kuno National park from Namibia in September last year even as 12 more of the fastest land mammals were brought to the KNP from Africa. However the death of two cheetahs at the Kuno National Park within a month has raised concern over the project and the health of the cheetahs at the national park.

The proposed multi-specialty veterinary hospital in Madhya Pradesh will help in ensuring the well being of the wild animals. An official aware of the development said that the multi-specialty hospital will be fully equipped with modern facilities. The multi-specialty veterinary hospital will have state-of-the-art ICUs and separate specialties for the treatment of cheetahs for different ailments.
Besides the modern state of the art equipment, a team of special veterinary doctors will be stationed at the hospital round the clock to address any emergency situation. An official said that the proposed hospital will be built on one acre land at an estimated cost of around Rs 1.7 crore. The hospital will be ready by the end of the year 2024 as per the official.
VK Verma, DFO at the Kuno Sanctuary told ETV Bharat that tendering process for the hospital has been started. The construction work will start after the completion of the tender process, he said.
