Antique silver coins worth Rs 14 lakhs recovered from labourer

Madhya Pradesh police have recovered 2,484 antique silver coins weighing 2,700 kilograms worth Rs 14 lakh from a labourer on Monday. The man had found the coins while digging behind his house on Saturday.

Barwani (Madhya Pradesh): The city police on Monday recovered 2,484 antique silver coins weighing 2,700 kilograms. The recovery has been made from an individual, who works as a labourer and found the antique coins while digging behind his house.

According to the reports, the man has kept the coins secretly and was planning to exchange the coin in the international market. The matter came into limelight after a local spy agent has informed the police about the coin.

Sharing details of the recovery, Sub Divisional Officer of Police Ruprekha Yadav said, "The coins have some Arabic inscription over them and the exact period that they belong to couldn't be ascertained."

She also maintained that the estimated price of the seized coin would be around Rs 14 lakh.

Meanwhile, police have handover the seized coins to the archaeology department for further investigations.
