Ghoradongri: A 13-year-old was raped and attempted to bury alive on Monday in Madhya Pradesh's Sarani district. According to the latest update, the main accused, Sunil Verma has been arrested within 24 hours of the incident.
The teenager had gone to the field to switch off a water motor where the owner of the nearby field was sitting. On seeing the girl alone, he raped her and attempted to kill her by burying alive in a nearby drainage line.
When she did not return home, the parents of the victim went in search of her and found her under a pile of rocks.
They immediately took her to the district hospital and informed the police.

On getting the news, Sarani SDOP Abhay Ram Chaudhary, Sarani station in-charge Mahendra Singh Chauhan, SI Alka Rai, and Ghodadongri outpost in-charge Ravi Shakya reached the hospital and recorded the victim's statement.
The teenager was referred to the district hospital after first aid as her condition became critical. Later, the teenager was shifted to Nagpur hospital on Tuesday.
Ghoradongri Police outpost in-charge Ravi Shakya said the accused has been taken into custody.
