Kochi: A 30-year-old woman died this morning after she was allegedly attacked by a migrant worker with a sharp-edged weapon in front of a shop at Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district.
According to reports, the accused allegedly smashed the victim's face and head with a spade to murder her. The deceased has been identified as Deepa.
According to police, Ummer Ali, a native of Assam has been taken into custody after zeroing down on him with the help of CCTV visuals. Though, the accused destroyed the surveillance camera after committing the crime, the police managed to recover the visuals.
This is the third murder of a woman in Perumbavoor involving a migrant labourer.
