Thrissur: The cultural capital of Kerala, Thrissur has produced the finest artists in various fields. A carpenter from Thrissur's Vadakkanchery, Mohanan gives a boost to the cultural heritage of the state by producing sculptures.
Mohanan's passion for carving magnificent sculptures with precision is gaining popularity not only because of its exquisiteness of workmanship but for the material being chiselled.
In a bid to make his art eco-friendly, he uses bamboo and waste materials to whittle into sculptures.
"Bamboo crafts with its ecological and eco-friendly attributes bring you closer to nature. I started the bamboo art to introduce the eco-friendly products to the young generation," said Mohanan.
Three feet tall Buddha statue, his latest creation, received great admiration from people. He plans to make many more statues from bamboo.
