Thrissur: The Guruvayur temple in Kerala witnessed three unique wedding ceremonies on Saturday when three sisters among the quintuplets from Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala got married at the temple's precincts.
The three sisters are the daughters of Ramadevi and late Premkumar from Pothenkode in Thiruvananthapuram, the couple who gave birth to quintuplets, 4 girls and a boy, in 1995.
The five siblings were born at a difference of a few minutes on November 18, 1995. The birth of the quintuplets had grabbed headlines in 1995. The five siblings were fondly addressed as the ‘Pancharatnas' (five gems).
One of the sisters, Uthra, a fashion designer, married K S Ajith Kumar, who is a hotel manager in Muscat. Uthara, a digital media professional married K B Mahesh Kumar, a journalist hailing from Kozhikode. Uthama, another sister, who works as an anesthesia technician, married G Vineet who works as an accountant at Muscat.
Their brother Uthrajan, the only male among the quintuplets, donned the role of their guardian during the wedding ceremony and customs.
The quintuplets’ father Prem Kumar had passed when they were just 9 years old. Ever since then, Ramadevi and children faced all the odds together and survived all challenges that life posed.
Ramadevi has also suffered from cardiac-related ailments and is under pacemaker support. Ramadevi raised her children with the help of her job at the District Cooperative Bank in Thiruvananthapuram.
