Thiruvananthapuram: The selection of Melshanthi (head priest) for Sabarimala Sree Ayyappa temple and Malikappuram temple, situated in the same premises, is scheduled to be held on October 17.
The interviews to shortlist the candidates were conducted during the past two days at the Devaswom Board Head Quarters. After this round of selection process, a list of 19 people has been prepared, of which 9 candidates are selected for Sabarimala Temple, while the remaining 10 have been selected in the final list for Malikappuram Temple.
This year has witnessed the lowest number of applicants to the position, sources said.
As many as 42 candidates appeared for the interview for Sabarimala temple and 23 appeared for Malikappuram Temple.
