Thiruvananthapuram: Sudheesh, a student of government high school was hospitalised after being allegedly assaulted by police officials including sub-inspector in Kerala's Varkala town on Monday.
Reportedly, it is said that the police attacked and beat the students of the Government Model Higher Secondary School in Kerala's Varkala after a team of students burst crackers during the youth festival held in the school.
However, the police said that they resorted to lathicharge when the students tried to attack them.
The complaint against the boys for bursting the crackers was lodged by the principal of the school.
Sudheesh, the victim is a student of Class 12 and a state Kabaddi player who sustained injuries in the attack.
It is alleged that Sudheesh has to attend a district Kabaddi meet on November 7.
Police said that they entered the school compound with the permission of the school principal.
Sudheesh was admitted to a private hospital in Varkala and is undergoing treatment.
Soon after they were attacked, the locals and their parents decided to file a complaint against the police.
