Kozhikode: Mural paintings of myths and legends now adorn Kalchira Narasimha Moorthy temple at Mavoor in Kozhikode district of Kerala.
The mural artworks are progressing at the temple premises as part of the State Government’s cultural affairs department diamond jubilee fellowship program. The temple walls are being adorned with murals using acrylic colours. Nibin Raj, Head, Mural Painting Department at Mahe Malayala Kala Gramam has been leading the team at work in the temple.

Mural art students - Anashwara, Ashwanth, Abhirami, Sreerag, Arya, Arjun, Preetha and Theertha - are working on the project led by Nibin Raj. It has been more than four months since the temple walls has being clad in different hues and colours.
The State’s Cultural department had instituted the Diamond Jubilee Fellowship program in 2018. Through this project, anyone irrespective of age one can learn the traditional art form for free from about 1000 artists from Kerala’s cultural academy. The project aims at uplifting artistic persons and bringing them to the mainstream of society.
As part of this program, the eight students being trained in mural art under Kunnamangalam Block have been engaged in the work of mural painting at Mavoor Kalchira Narasimha Temple, in Kozhikode.
