Kasaragod(Kerala): A man committed suicide at Kanathur in Kasaragod district of Kerala after shooting his wife dead, here on Saturday.
Vijayan, a native of Vadakkekkara in Kanathur, Kasaragod, shot and killed his wife Baby (35) and later suicided by hanging himself.
Vijayan killed his wife in front of the couple’s 5-year-old son at their house. The crime came to light when the boy went to the neighbours’ house and told them about the incident.
During this time, Vijayan, who left his house with the gun, walked to a rubber plantation nearby.

He hung himself using the Mundu (Dhoti) that he had worn on a rubber tree. A country-made gun was retrieved from near the dead body.
According to local people, a family dispute might have led to murder and suicide. They said Vijayan has been a habitual drinker. Baby used to be regularly called and troubled by someone and there was a tiff between the couple based on this incident.
Vijayan had also filed a complaint on this issue with the Adhoor Police station. By the time, it could be settled by the Police, the couple died. After Police inquest, both the dead bodies have been sent for post mortem.
