Kasaragod: Abhijna, a fifth standard student from Kasaragod, Kerala has set a world record in yoga by performing 53 yoga postures in a record time of three minutes.
Beating the previous record of 34 yoga postures in 3 minutes, she has entered ‘America’s Golden Book of World Records.’
Participating in the event using Google meet, Abhijna, daughter of Karanthakkadu Hareesh and Theja Kumari, explored the possibilities of the internet and participated in an online yoga performance.
Abhijna has been learning and practising yoga under the guidance of her mother Theja Kumari from the age of 4. Earlier, Abhijna had grabbed gold medals and laurels in the national level yoga competitions held in Pondicherry and Madikeri in Karnataka.

She is also being trained in yoga under Bharatha Vidya Bhavan’s Dwarakanagar Venkatesha Vidhyalaya’s academic activities. Abhijna has been learning classical dance also.
Blending yoga and Bharathanatyam, the classical dance form, she also presents Naga Nritham (Snake dance), another evolved form of dance.
This little girl dedicates her feat to her father, who runs a roadside eatery at Karanthakkadu, and her mother.
