Kerala CM to launch Kochi Water Metro on Monday

The first phase of Kochi Water Metro project will be launched by the Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan through video conferencing on Monday. The Water Metro will be open to the public from the month of March.

Ernakulam: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the first route and terminals of Kochi Water Metro on Monday.

The first phase of Kochi Water Metro project includes the route from Vyttila to Kakkanad Info park, which will be launched by the CM through video conferencing.

The inauguration will be held at Water Metro terminal at Vyttila and the CM will also launch new Panamkutty bridge and canal renovation project, construction for which has already been completed.

The Water Metro will be open to the public from the month of March. The project budgets around 678 crores Rupees.

The Water Metro project is implemented by Kochi Metro Rail Ltd (KMRL). Similar to metro stations, the Water Metro is established with international standard terminals and it will have 38 stations. The Water Metro service is available on 15 routes covering a distance of 78.6 km.
