'Ayyappanum Koshiyum' fame actor Anil P Nedumangad drowns

The 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum' had reached Thodupuzha in Idukki district to shoot for a new movie starring actor Joju George. Anil and a few of his friends had stepped into the Malankara Dam reservoir here to take a dip. After entering the water, he accidentally fell into the depths of an underwater trench. His dead body has been retrieved.

Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam actor Anil P Nedumangad, aged 48, drowned in Malankara Dam in Thodupuzha here on Friday.

Anil is best known for his roles in Malayalam movies including Ayyappanum Koshiyum, Paavada, Papam Cheyythavar Kalleriyatte and Kammattippadam.

The 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum' had reached Thodupuzha in Idukki district to shoot for a new movie starring actor Joju George. Anil and a few of his friends had stepped into the Malankara Dam reservoir here to take a dip. After entering the water, he accidentally fell into the depths of an underwater trench. His dead body has been retrieved.

Anil was widely praised and had won critical acclaim for his role as S I Satheeshan Nair in Sachy’s directorial Ayyappanum Koshiyum. Anil had recently penned his memories about Ayyappanum Koshiyum director Sachy who also passed away earlier this year.

Lead actor in 'Ayyappanum Koshiyum' Prithviraj Sukumaran who played the role 'Koshy' took to Twitter after the news about Anil's death surfaced.

After a long stint in television and theatre, Anil began his acting career on the silver screen debuting in Thaskaraveeran. He started getting noticed and becoming popular through Rajeev Ravi’s Njan Steve Lopez.

Anil, who had learnt acting from the School of Drama, got into the mainstream cinema after a long wait. Since his first in 2014, Anil acted in about 20 movies.
