Wayanad (Kerala): In a first-of-its-kind initiative, a multi-speciality telemedicine facility has been launched in Kerala's Wayanad district.
Named 'Koode', the facility has been set up under the leadership of Kerala Government Medical Officers Association, in collaboration with varied departments of medical specialities.
District Collector Dr Adheela Abdulla launched the poster of the 'Koode' telemedicine service, here on Thursday.
Under the service, both general medicine consultations and speciality consultations will be made available for all people residing in the district.
Based on the symptoms and the details regarding one's illnesses, the interface will decide on the appropriate medical speciality required for the patient. Then, the assigned doctor would call up the patient over the telephone at a convenient time and inquire about the health condition. The doctor would directly give the guidelines for the treatment.
For those who are on continuous medication for any disease or co-morbid conditions, prescriptions would be sent by email or WhatsApp. These prescriptions can be used at the nearest pharmacies to get the medicines.
Further, patients with severe illnesses can also use the facility to get guidelines from doctors on their follow-up treatment and medications.
