Sulthan Bathery (Kerala): The video of a cleaning staffer dancing for the COVID patients at the COVID-19 First-line Treatment Centre (CFLTC) at Sulthan Bathery town in Wayanad district of Kerala has taken the internet by storm.
Clinton Raphel, a sanitation worker, hailing from Kaippakanchery in Sultan Bathery, danced to entertain the COVID patients.
Clinton, who was earlier a dance teacher, joined the COVID Care Centre as a cleaning staff after he stopped getting any income as a dance teacher owing to the COVID crisis.
Clinton’s dance, clad in a Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) kit had gone viral on social media platforms within hours after it was uploaded. The video which was uploaded on the Facebook page of Arogya Jagratha got more than 77,000 views in one day.
Clinton said he danced following requests from doctors, nurses, and other colleagues at the facility. The objective of dance performance was to help relieve mental stress in COVID patients. Though it was very difficult to dance wearing a PPE kit, Clinton is very happy that his dance grabbed people’s attention. With an undergraduate degree in Bharatanatyam, Clinton is currently pursuing a Diploma in Kuchipudi.
During the COVID lockdown, the students who used to learn dance from him stopped turning up and he was left with no income. When his parents’ illnesses also became a challenge, Clinton joined the COVID care facility as cleaning staff. He is currently undergoing COVID observation after ten days of duty at the COVID centre.
