Experiencing the world from classroom; Virtual & Augmented labs set in Kerala school

The Sree Narayanapuram Panangad Higher Secondary School in Kerala's Thrissur has set up Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality labs. Through the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality labs, students can take a trip to anywhere in the World. The lab and equipment worth lakhs of rupees was sponsored by a group of Alumni.

Thrissur: The students in the Sree Narayanapuram Panangad Higher Secondary School in Thrissur district of Kerala can take a trip to anywhere in the World while still sitting in their classrooms. With the help of a Virtual Reality lab set up here, the children can virtually experience anything in any corner of the world through the virtual platform. It is for the first time in the state that such a lab has been facilitated in a School.

Through the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality labs, things and happenings anywhere in the world can be captured as it is and experienced without losing its originality. The students who have not been to Taj Mahal, one of the seven wonders of the world, can see the visuals of Taj Mahal using the latest and novel technology called Oculus.

The students can learn their lessons and understand well using the tools by seeing, hearing and touching. Memorials, statues, incidents and many other wonders in the world, man-made or natural, can be experienced by the students by sitting in the classroom.

A group of alumni sponsored the equipment required for the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality labs at the school costing lakhs of rupees. Through a trust named Puthankattil Kunjikoru Foundation, school alumni P K Ashokan, Puthankattil Subhash and Puthankattil Suresh facilitated the Virtual Reality labs for their school. The technological support for the installation of the lab at the school was provided by Infusory Future Tech Lab.
