Efforts on to identify source of Nipah virus

Several bats have been caught to identify the source of the Nipah virus. A team of eight scientists from Kerala Virology Institute of Kerala and National Institute of Virology of Pune had been deployed for further research.

Kochi (Chennai): In a bid to find the source of Nipah virus, a group of scientists caught several bats from near the home of a native in North Paravur here on Thursday.

The samples were collected from five bats.

Kerala Virology Institute of Kerala and National Institute of Virology of Pune had deployed a team of eight scientists for the task.

The scientists have set up nets at the trees in the area to catch the bats.
