Thiruvananthapuram: Communist Party of India (CPI) state secretary Kanam Rajendran harshly slammed the party's general secretary D Raja for backing senior leader Annie Raja over her remarks against Kerala Police.

The CPI Kerala unit has criticised D Raja that his opinion is not the decision of the national executive.

Annie Raja earlier alleged that an RSS gang is being operated in the state police force. This comment was, however, rejected by CPI state leadership.

'Whether it is the national secretary or national president, they must not violate the guidelines of the party. The scenario of Kerala is unlike that of UP. Uttar Pradesh is a state where a doctor has been imprisoned in disclosing oxygen unavailability. Whereas in Kerala, the Kerala police stand together with people in their fight against the pandemic,' said Kanam Rajendran.

He added that CPI had earlier criticised even SA Danke, who was the chairman of the party. So there is no exemption in criticism, even if he is the national general secretary.
