Mangalore: Adriel Savio Miranda and Aiswarya S emerged as the winners of Happy Face Photo Contest which was held as part of year-long campaign, against suicide, by the Catholic diocese of Mangalore under its Bishop Peter Paul Saldanha.
The contest, in which the 'best' and 'happiest' face of a man and woman were chosen as part of year of life campaign, was a selfie contest for any person above 12 years of age.
The winners will get a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 each.
The initiative comes under the church's proclamation, 'Year of Life-2020' with a tagline, "Human life is precious, care and protect it".
Under the proclamation, 'Year of Life -2020', the Catholic Diocese of Mangalore held a series of events, charted out by Laudato Si committee of the diocese, starting from March 1 under this campaign.

On the occasion of the year of life, Laudato Si committee of Mangalore Diocese organised a campaign against suicide on March 1 in all the parishes of Mangalore Diocese. The Sunday mass were dedicated for the campaign and it involved taking a pledge that they will face any life-threatening situation bravely rather than thinking of suicide cowardly.
Over one lakh handbills were printed containing information in English and Kannada about educating and helping people to protect Human life.
Spread in Dakshina Kannada district of Karnataka and Kasaragod taluk of Kerala, Catholic Diocese of Mangalore has 124 parishes under its command. The diocese, in last year, carried out massive tree sapling plantation drive in all its parishes under Laudato Si campaign.
