Hubli (Karnataka): Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and his wife M.Usha on Sunday left for Delhi after completing a six-day tour of Karnataka. He flew from Hubli in a special Air Force flight.
Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai welcomed Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and his wife M. Usha, who arrived in Hubli this morning after completing a tour of the Tungabhadra Reservoir and the historic Hampi in Hosapet in Vijayanagar district. Minister Shankara Patil Munenakoppa, District Collector Nitesh K. Patil, Hubli-Dharwad City Police Commissioner were also present.
The Vice President attended the wedding function of Union Minister Pralhad Joshi's nephew which was held in a private hotel.
Earlier, Naidu addressed the scientists and engineers of Hindustan Aeronautical Limited (HAL) Bengaluru in his maiden visit and said that indigenous products will play a key role in leapfrogging India as an aerospace and defence powerhouse in the coming years.
Naidu emphasized the need to develop cutting-edge technologies indigenously to make India self-reliant in defence technology and emerge as an export hub of modern military hardware.
Naidu had arrived in Bengaluru on August 16 and was received by Chief Minister Basavaraja Bommai.
