SC to consider taking on record BSY's audio clip in rebel MLAs case

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Tuesday said that it will consider 'taking on record' the transcript of BS Yediyurappa's audio, in which the Karnataka CM is purportedly referring to rebel MLAs. The apex court was hearing a request from the Karnataka Congress to include the controversial audio clip in MLAs disqualification case.

An audio clip of Yediyurappa expressing anguish against leaders at a recent party meeting in Hubballi over their opposition to giving tickets to disqualified Congress-JD(S) MLAs for the December 5 assembly bypolls in 15 assembly constituencies had surfaced on Friday last.

Supreme Court said, "We would consider Kapil Sibal's request to take on record his allegations against Karnataka CM BS Yediyurappa that BS Yediyurappa confessed on tape about influencing MLAs who were later disqualified."

In the audio, he is purportedly saying that the rebel Congress JD(S) MLAs, who were later disqualified, were kept in Mumbai during the final days of the coalition government under BJP national President Amit Shah.

The top court had on October 25 reserved verdict on a batch of petitions challenging the disqualification of 17 Karnataka MLAs before the trust vote moved by the previous H D Kumaraswamy government.
