Bengaluru: BMTC has launched and operated a mobile oxygen unit in partnership with a private volunteer organization to help people avoid oxygen problem.

Currently, almost all hospitals have congestion due to covid patients, causing delays in delivering oxygen to the hospital when new patients arrive. This new system has been successfully implemented to provide emergency oxygen on the bus to avoid this.

Currently, a BMTC bus has been launched, and a volunteer organisation named Foundation India, has provided all the necessary equipment to supply oxygen to the bus.

The buses can accommodate up to six people at a time. The 'Oxygen on Wheels' bus is equipped with a special design, which provides a sanitiser and masks to keep drivers and staff from getting infected. Each patient is usually able to receive the required amount of oxygen from the facility for 2 to 4 hours.

If this special 'oxygen bus facility is successful, then the transport corporations will try to provide more 'oxygen bus', Deputy Chief Minister Lakshmana Sawadi said. This type of mobile oxygen bus experiment is an innovative initiative in the entire country.
