Mysuru/Bengaluru: "The explosion in Shimoga yesterday was shocking news. I will visit the place and take a look into the incident," CM Yeddyurappa said in Mysuru.

"Mining has to take place for the sake of development. But illegal mining is a crime. Make it legal by applying for a license," said Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa in Mysuru.

We have announced relief for the families of the deceased. Many houses collapsed during the accident. I will visit the place and take stock of the matter. We will provide fair justice to all," he added.

Yediyurappa said that he would not allow illegal mining. Any mining should be licensed, Yeddyurappa warned.

"Such disasters are caused by illegal mining. Actions will be taken to curb illegal mining. Already the MPs, the District Collector and the Minister have visited the site. I will take appropriate action," BSY said in Bangalore.

"I will tour Shimoga, will visit the spot and inspect. There is no provision for illegal mining. What caused this explosion? I will review who gave permission to bring explosives in the lorry and how the incident took place. A comprehensive investigation will be conducted and appropriate action would be taken against the guilty," he said.

Responding to the question on permission for mining on a round-the-clock basis, the chief minister said he will review the proposal.
