Mysore (Karnataka): The Mysore district and sessions court has issued notice to former Union minister Maneka Gandhi to appear before the court on March 1 in connection with a defamation case.
The case is related to Dr S.K. Mithal, a resident of Mysore and a member of the Animal Welfare Board of India, who was in-charge of Karnataka and Kerala. During her time as minister, Maneka Gandhi had alleged that Mithal was not adequately involved in many activities of the board. She also wrote a letter to Dr Harshavardhan, Minister of Environment during the time and expressed her outrage about the members of animal husbandry board .
After incidents, Mithal had written a letter to Maneka Gandhi and clarified the allegations.
However, he claims the former minister continued to hurl accusations at him. Disappointed over the allegations, Mithal filed a defamation case in the District and Sessions Court of Mysore. But, the court dismissed his application at the time.

Later, he moved to the First District and Sessions Court of Mysore and registered a case against her.
