Koppala (Karnataka): A newly married couple was assaulted by miscreants in Karatagi of Karnataka's Koppal district resulting in the death of the wife, who died on the spot, and the husband has been severely injured.
Triveni (34) and her husband Vinodh (31) hailing from the District of Vijayapura had settled in Karatagi after getting married last June. Vinod works as a Manager in a private bank in the town. The couple was attacked on Saturday when they were on the way home. The miscreants attacked them in the middle of the road and brutally murdered Triveni. Vinodh was hospitalised with severe injuries. The group who attacked the couple fled from the scene.
The Police in Gangavathi has filed a case in this regard. The reason behind the attack has not yet been found.
According to the Police, it was Triveni's family members who assaulted the couple and tried to kill them. According to sources, Triveni belonged to upper caste and the Vinod belonged to lower caste. Triveni's family opposed her marriage with Vinod and did not permit her to marry him. Amid the opposition of her family, Triveni got married to Vinodh.
