Tumkur: A leopard was trapped in a cage placed by the forest department in Karnataka's Tumkur district early on Sunday. The big cat, about five years of age, is healthy. It will be released in a reserve forest area, said department sources.
According to villagers, the animal had been wandering around the vicinity of Doddabyadarahalli. Its presence had caused fear among residents as it had also devoured a few dogs.
Subsequent to a request, the department had placed the cage, with a live dog as bait. The trap of the cage shut as soon as the wild animal entered and it was captured.
