Bengaluru: The government's move to give the land on lease to Ballari's Jindal Steel Company at a low rate has been blamed by the BJP legislators.
This decision of the government has been opposed by BJP MLAs. The MLAs have written a letter to CM Yediyurappa expressing their dissatisfaction. Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, Arvind Bellad, Purnima Srinivas and Uday Garudachar have written a letter to the CM alleging that land has given to Jindal at a very subsidized price.
In the letter, the MLAs have asked the CM to reconsider the decision to give 3667 acres of land on lease to Jindal. "It is not good that thousands of crores worth land has been given to Jindal on lease at only Rs 60-70cr. When the same decision was taken in the alliance government (CONG-JDS), the BJP leaders led the protest in your leadership. You have accused of a kickback against the alliance government. It is not right to make the same mistake in our government now."
"The issue of land given to Jindal could have been discussed at the party forum. It could have been discussed at a legislative party meeting or during a budget session," asked the letter. "Once again, the decision taken at the cabinet meeting requires a reconsideration." The MLAs appealed to allow a discussion in the party forum.

The letter further says, "There has been widespread criticism in the public since the government took this decision. Is there a necessity for the government to make this decision in the event of Covid's hardship? How many lakhs per acre? Isn't all this a matter of doubt? Is there still a kickback deal as in the alliance government? The public and media representatives are questioning now. It is the need of the hour for the state government to rethink this decision," the letter read.
