Mysore (Karnataka): In yet another incident of violence against women, a private college student was allegedly gang-raped by four to five youths while near Chamundi hills in Karnataka's Mysore on Wednesday.

The incident took place when the girl had gone to the hills with her boyfriend. While returning from the hill, the youths, who were in a drunken state, stopped both of them and attacked the boy and allegedly gang-raped the girl at the Lalitadripura road near Chamundi hills.

Both the girl and her boyfriend are undergoing treatment at a private hospital.

The police have registered an FIR at the Alanahalli Police Station on the basis of the statement of the victim.

"The FIR has been lodged at the Alanahalli Police Station on the allegations of sexual harassment on the young lady and the accused will be arrested soon," city police commissioner Dr Chandragupta informed adding that it is a delicate matter and information can not be disclosed at this point. He also said that the case has been taken up on priority and all the related information has been obtained from the victim's boyfriend.

Chief Minister CM Basavaraj Bommai reacting on the issue said that the victim has been admitted to the hospital and a case has been registered based on the statement of the victim. "I have instructed the DGP to take stringent action against the culprits," he added.

Meanwhile, Karnataka Home Minister Araga Jnyanedra termed the matter as unfortunate and said that the senior police senior officials including ADGP Pratap Reddy to Mysuru. He also said that he will also go to Mysuru tomorrow." We will take strict action against the culprits," he added.

The identity of the accused youths is yet to be ascertained.
