Bengaluru: Organ transplantation is a fairly common medical procedure nowadays. But those suffering from heart and lung failure need an organ, and millions are waiting for this treatment. In the meantime, many families are doing a selfless service of Organ donation despite the pain of losing their close ones.
In a similar case, the heart of a 36-year-old woman with brain failure has been transplanted to a 38-year-old woman of Andhra Pradesh. The heart transplant was done under the leadership of Heart Surgeon Dr Nagamallesh of Ramaiah Hospital.
Talking to the media before the operation Dr Nagamallesh said, "This is the 35th heart transplant which we are doing. The heart of a 36-year-old woman with brain failure will be transplanted into a 38-year-old woman of Andhra Pradesh. She is suffering from heart problem for 3 years, waiting for a heart transplant. the heart of a brain-damaged woman at Apollo Hospital will be transplanted to her. The cost of its treatment will be looked after by the Government of Andhra Pradesh."
