Bengaluru: The Government of Karnataka and the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) have decided to take up the construction of the new pilgrim residence complexes at the leased space of TTD to Karnataka Charities in Tirumala. TTD Board of Directors Chairperson YV Subba Reddy, E.O Anil Kumar Singhal, and Additional E.O AV Dharmara Reddy met with the Chief Minister of Karnataka BS Yeddyurappa in Bangalore on Friday in this regard.
TTD leased 7.05 acres of land in Thirumala to the Karnataka government in 2008 for a 50-year period. The state government recently issued a plan seeking permission from the TTD to undertake the construction of the new Pilgrim Amenity Complex (CHOULTRY) in the area. Karnataka Endowment Commissioner AS Rohini Sindhuri recently met the chairman of TTD to discuss the plan. The chairman then inspected the area of Karnataka inns. CM Yeddyurappa invited Chairman and EO of TTD to discuss the plan. In this regard, they had a meeting with the Karnataka CM.
Both the parties agreed to build a new Complex according to TTD norms at the Karnataka Choultry area. 1.94 acres of land on the west side of Mada Street (procession route of Lord Venkateswara) would be vacant for the purpose of the devotees at the time of Brahmotsavams and other auspicious days. Both parties came to the decision of constructing a new complex in the remaining land.

The Karnataka Govt will submit a blueprint for the construction in the coming days and the TTD will ratify the decision in the upcoming trust board meeting. Thereafter the Karnataka govt will deposit 200cr to TTD for taking up the construction works. Later on, Karnataka CM will lay the foundation stone of the development works.
TTD will construct the new complex and hand it over to Karnataka govt, according to an MOU between the two parties.
