Vijayapura (Karnataka): Forty people have died in Karnataka's Thoravi village within a span of one month, reports say.
Former minister MB Patil reported the deaths in Vijayapura district which comes under his Babaleshwara constituency.
The deaths occurred during the second wave of the pandemic.
Thoravi village is 5 km from Vijayapura city, a busy market and trading area.
Health officials have visited the village which has 100 COVID-19 infected people under home quarantine and a few others are receiving treatment at hospitals.
Health authorities are now preparing to convert Gram Panchayat Secretariat as Covid Care Center, reports said.
