Muslims cremate Hindu man ignored by family

The man, a resident of Vikas Nagar in Koppala, was under treatment at a hospital for breathlessness. His son, too, was admitted to a hospital as he tested positive for COVID-19. Suspecting that the man, too, might have contracted the virus, his family members and relatives refrained from conducting his last rites.

Koppala (Karnataka): In an incident that restores faith in humanity, a few Muslim youths gave a respectable funeral to a Hindu man, who was ignored by his own family members and relatives suspecting he was infected with COVID-19.

The man, a resident of Vikas Nagar, was under treatment at a hospital for breathlessness. His son, too, was admitted to a hospital as he tested positive for COVID-19. Suspecting that the man, too, might have contracted the virus, his family members and relatives refrained from conducting his last rites.

It is also alleged that they handed some money to a private ambulance service provider to cremate him.

On learning about the issue, members of the Humanitarian Relief Society (HRS), led by its president Syed Hidayat Ali and team leader Mohammed Khalil, conducted the man's last rites as per Hindu customs.
