Mandya (Karnataka): The most awaited election result of America is in the process and at the same time, people in Hallegere village of Mandya are praying for Joe Biden to become the US President. The reason behind the prayers is a person named Dr Vivek H Murthy from Hallegere, who is the key strategist of Biden's election campaign.
Dr Vivek H Murthy, who was President Barack Obama's youngest surgeon general in 2014, is one of the key strategists of Biden's election campaign. He was born in London and brought up in the US. He did a BA from Harvard University. But his native land is India's Hallegere and he visits here once in a year. The villagers are also expressing their happiness for him because he has done much good work in the village to help the people.
Murthy remembers his motherland as well as his mother tongue. He speaks in Kannada and mingles with the people when he arrives in the village once a year. He makes annual trips and conducts free camps under his family-funded scope foundation in the village. A team of doctors, along with his family members, have conducted free eye camps and operated on 60 people in the past in his village. They also presented 100 computers to government schools in and around Maddur taluk. Although Vivek Murthy and his family had plans to donate computers to all schools in Mandya district.
The Hallegere villagers appreciate the work Murthy has done in the village. According to the villagers, Murthy didn't forget his roots, he visits the village every year and spends time with them. He speaks in Kannada and mingles with the villagers in every function when he visits.

"He worked as Barack Obama's youngest surgeon general and is working as a key strategist of Biden's election campaign, but when he arrives here, he will not show the attitude of a rich person and an NRI, he will be a normal person like us here," Chandrashekar a relative of Murthy said to ETV Bharat.
"Vivek Murthy has a close relationship with us and our village, Murthy visits here every year and is also one of the main reasons for the development of our village. He has provided many facilities for us with his own money. He has provided computers to schools for the welfare of children's education. We pray to get one of the best position in America for Vivek Murthy after the win of Joe Biden in the US election. If Joe Biden wins in the election, we will feel like our village is getting one more feather because our Vivek Murthy is the reason for it," a villager Siddaraju told ETV Bharat.
