Grant us permission to roll out vaccination drive: Karnataka Congress tells govt

Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president D K Shivakumar said several people were losing their lives due to the government's apathy. He asked the government to allow the Congress party to roll out a vaccination drive.

Bengaluru: Slamming the Karnataka government over delayed vaccination against Covid-19, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee president D K Shivakumar said several people were losing their lives due to the government's apathy. He asked the government to allow the Congress party to roll out a vaccination drive.

Taking to Twitter, he said 382 Covid-infected people died on Sunday due to government's disinterest in the people. "It is heartbreaking to see the plight of grieving families. Time is of utmost importance to save lives," he said, and asked the government to grant permission for the Opposition Congress to launch a vaccination drive.

Sources said Congress leaders have been claiming that they will pool in Rs 100 crore to purchase vaccines. "Each MLA will contribute Rs 1 crore from the MLA's fund," a source said.
