Mangaluru (Karnataka): A fishing boat has capsized after colliding with a sunken ship off Mangaluru coast on Thursday. Eleven crew members of the ill-fated vessel were rescued while one fisherman hailing from Tamil Nadu went missing in the mishap.
A deep-sea fishing boat named 'Adya' suffered collision after it rammed into a sunken ship near the shore in Ullal around 11 am on Thursday. There were 12 fishermen on the boat. The fishermen fell into the sea after the boat collided, however, 11 fishermen were rescued by other fishing boats in the vicinity. A fisherman from Tamil Nadu went missing and search is on to trace him.
Several years ago, a barge sank in the sea near Ullal shore and it was never salvaged. Fishermen complained that there were no buoys or markings around the spot to avoid such dangers while sailing in the sea.
