Latehar: The corpse of a female tiger was recovered on Saturday in Jharkhand's Betla National park. Well known as a tiger reserve, the tigress was found on Saturday night on Road No 2, inside the park.
YK Das, Director of Palamau Tiger Reserve said that it is sad incident. He also said that based on reports the tigress succumbed to her injuries after a gruesome fight with a bison.
According to a forest official, the 14-year-tigress was found dead during patrolling. The park has been closed for the tourists and forest officials have started to investigate the reason of the death.
The matter was immediately reported to top officials following which a special team of veterinary doctors reached the spot to inspect the body.
Further investigation is underway.
