Pakur: The forest department personnel, on Friday, rescued a rare red boa constrictor, also known as two-faced snake from an under-construction building near Kumar Kalidas Memorial College in Jharkhand's Pakur district. Later, they released the snake into a reserved forest.
A group of people saw the snake in an under-construction building and alerted the forest department. A team of forest personnel headed by Ranger Anil Kumar Singh rushed to the spot and rescued the snake.

According to forest officials, the red boa constrictor are mainly found in the plains and swamp areas of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh.
Ranger Singh said that people in China smuggle two-faced snakes as they believe that it is helpful in curing life threatening diseases like AIDS. But, he also asserted that its belief in the myth which leads them to do smuggling of red boa snake.
He also added that the cost of red boa constrictor in the international market is more than Rs 1 Cr.
