Sahibganj: A private hospital doctor, who had assured an elderly patient of free treatment under 'Ayushman Bharat', reportedly charged him Rs 6000 alongside billing him an additional Rs 10000 via the health scheme card.
The incident occurred in Jharkhand's Maharajpur on Friday, when the patient Vishwanath Pandit, who was suffering from Hernia, had sought the treatment.
"I had gathered money from my relatives and even used the amount I got from PM Awas Yojana and pension to pay him (doctor) Rs 4000 for operation and Rs 2000 for blood check and medicines," he had said.
He further said that the doctor along with compounder threatened him and his family, not to reveal about this to the concerned authorities.
However, Pandit had lodged a complaint with the hospital's civil surgeon, who stated that he would look into the matter, at the earliest.
