Jharkhand's 'Bal Panchayats' take naxal-hit areas on progress route

Kodarma: The panchayats here and in Giridih area have constituted 'bal panchayats' to spread awareness among people and bring the Naxal menace to a halt. The move is led by Kailash Satyarthi Children's Foundation.

The bal panchayats are spreading awareness among the masses here, and are aiming to bring about an end to the naxal menace and positive changes can already be witnessed.

Meanwhile in Tannd village of Dhondhakola, a programme was organised where secretary of the State Bar Council Rajesh Pandey felicitated and awarded certificates to the bal panchayat volunteers. They were also administered oath to perform their duties with dedication.

The elected chief of the bal panchayat said the village was witnessing a positive change after the constitution of the panchayat. The children here have started going to school and problems of people were being addressed, she said.
