Garhwa (Jharkhand): Eight people killed and two were injured in Jharkhand's Garhwa due to lightning on Thursday.
The incident took place in Majhiyan block of Lohar Purwa village at around 1 o'clock in the afternoon.
The injured were immediately rushed to Sadar Hospital for treatment.
Reportedly, children were playing cards under the Peepal Tree when the lightning strike them and killed six children on the spot. Two died on their way to Hospital.
The deceased children include Sunil Chaudhary, Raju Chaudhary, Sanjay Chaudhary, Krishna Chaudhary, Sonu Chaudhary, Pawan Chaudhary, Antu Chaudhary, Sonu Kumar Chaudhary.
Several officials, including SDO Pradeep Kumar, are monitoring the situation. The process of providing compensation to the victim's family has been started.
CM of Jharkhand, Raghubar Das expressed grief over the death of eight people due to thunderbolt in Garhwa.
He has directed compensation of Rs. 4 lakh to the dependents of the deceased.
