Ranchi: A hardcore Red rebel, with a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head, surrendered in Jharkhand's Ranchi on Sunday.
According to sources, the surrendered Naxal, Jeevan Kandulna aka Patras was a member of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) in the Rania area Committee and involved in many cases of attacking security forces in the area.
Patras left the party and surrendered before the police voluntarily. He told that CPI(M)'s anti-development attitude made him unhappy and was the reason behind his surrender.
The police were continuously pressurizing the Naxalite Patras to surrender. Following this, he surrendered on Sunday and will receive monetary assistance as per the Surrender and Rehabilitation Scheme of the government of Jharkhand, sources said.
However, Patras's surrender plan has been kept secret as Jharkhand Police was looking for his surrender for a long time. He might be taken into police custody for interrogation, sources added.
