ETV Bharat Exclusive: In a conversation with newly appointed DGP Jharkhand MV Rao

Today, ETV Bharat reached his office and interacted with him. He revealed his strategy to handle the state's law and order situation and also his game plan to deal with Naxalism in the state.

Reporter- What is the full name of MV Rao?

MV Rao- As you know, Andhra Pradesh follows the traditional culture of possessing their ancestral surname, likewise in the case of MV Rao, 'M' stands for Mandva and 'V' stands for Vishnuvardhan. So, the full name is Mandva Vishnuvardhan Rao.

Reporter- What do we expect from the new DGP in terms of improvement in state policing?

DGP- We always try to improve our services day by day. I always think today is better than yesterday, and tomorrow is better than today. It means we will improve the quality in terms of providing services to the common people. We will try to gain the trust of the people so that they can come to us to file a complaint about any mishappening around them.

Despite limiting our services to policing, social services are also among our top priorities. If we can help any person who is undergoing distress in his/her life or planning to end the priceless life, we will try to figure out and try to serve out best in the betterment of the person.

Reporter- Several cases of getting support from the police department to the land mafias, coal mafia and Naxals. What will your game plan to tackle with those corrupt police officers?

Ans- I have taken the charge today. Let me discuss with my colleagues.

The whole police department cannot be counted sailing on the same boat. It may be possible that some of the officials are involved. But will take strict action if any cases related to the corruption emerges in front of me.

As far as Naxalism is concerned, we have a special task force called the 'Jharkhand Jaguar', which I think is capable to tackle Maoists in the state.

Reporter- As Jharkhand is a tribal-based state and many cases have been reported of raping a minor girl in the last four to five years. What will your strategy to tackle the POCSO cases in the state?

Ans- We will take those case on our priority. Not only the cases of child rapes, kidnapping will be our priority but also dealing with the cases of any women and senior citizens of the state will be among the top.

Earlier, there is a tendency of saying, "Your child may have gone with someone in his/her own consent." But now, this tendency of police will be changed in the state. They have to file a case and start a search operation till the absconded or kidnapped person got traced.
