Notice to Facebook and Twitter in Hemant Soren defamation case

On Wednesday, a hearing was held in the Civil Court in the defamation case filed by the Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren. The Civil Court Judge, Vaishali Srivastava, hearing the case against Godda MP Nishikant Dubey, has issued notices to the respondent Facebook and Twitter.

Ranchi: On Wednesday, a hearing was held in the Civil Court in the defamation case filed by the Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren. The Civil Court Judge, Vaishali Srivastava, hearing the case against Godda MP Nishikant Dubey, has issued notices to the respondent Facebook and Twitter.

The court has sent notices through Speed Post and emails to Twitter Communication India Private Limited (Mumbai) and Facebook India Online Services Private Limited (Gurugram). The Court has also set the date of July 5 for the next hearing on this case.

Accepting the defamation suit, the Civil Court had earlier issued a notice to the respondent Nishikant Dubey, Facebook, and Twitter and ordered them to file their replies. Twitter and Facebook filed their reply in court through Nishikant Dubey's advocate.

Earlier, Dubey had made some objectionable remarks on Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren through Facebook and Twitter. Later, CM Hemant Soren filed a case of defamation on Nishikant Dubey in Ranchi Civil Court. Heman Soren has filed a defamation claim of Rs 100 crores.
