New Delhi: Congress's Jharkhand in-charge, RPN Singh, on Thursday called a virtual meeting with party leaders to discuss the measures providing relief to the coronavirus-affected people in the state.

According to the party leaders, a road map was prepared to deal with the ongoing situation. The leader said that a dedicated medical control room will be set up in the state. The party will distribute face masks, sanitisers and other necessary items required to fight the deadly virus.

As the country is witnessing a nationwide surge in COVID-19 cases, the migrant laborers of Jharkhand are fear-stricken, anticipating another lockdown. A large section of these migrant labourers is returning to their native place. The party would ensure free rations to the migrant workers," Singh said.

The meeting of Congress leaders also noted the scarcity of medical facilities in the state and pledged to help those in distress and to initiate a door-to-door awareness campaign.

Meanwhile, in view of the deteriorating coronavirus situation in Jharkhand, the state government on Wednesday extended the restrictive measures for a week from 6 am on April 29.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren had on April 20 declared a seven-day lockdown-like restriction starting from April 22, saying that the period would be observed as "health safety week".
