Srinagar: There has been "zero" infiltration on the Line of Control (LoC) in the last six months, Lt General DP Pandey, Chinar Corps Commander said on Friday. He added that whatever happens at the LoC will be dealt with at the LOC itself. Talking to media on the occasion of passing out parade at JAK LI Regimental Centre, Rangareth on the outskirts of Srinagar, General Pandey said, "Whether there is a ceasefire or not, our eyes are always on our enemy."

"We are ready to face any kind of trouble at the LoC or the eastern regions. We are prepared to respond to our enemies effectively at every level," he added. Responding to a question on yesterday's meeting between Jammu and Kashmir politicians and PM Narendra Modi in New Delhi and whether it would have any impact on the security situation in the valley, GOC XV Corps Lt General Pandey said the security situation and the political processes are two different things. "Talks are an ongoing process that continues forever. The security situation is a different issue and is being dealt with at different levels," he informed.

Lt General Pandey said there is a possibility that militants could be pushed into Kashmir after the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan but the situation is not what it was 30 years ago. "We are ready to thwart any plan and meet every challenge effectively," he said. However, he said that the priority for the army is to prevent local youth from joining the militant ranks.
