Srinagar: In a major success, security forces in Jammu and Kashmir have recovered a huge cache of weapons during a search operation in the Poonch district. Security forces had received information about some people in the Kirni Village, adjacent to the Line of Control, were in contact with terrorists across the border and were in the process of committing a major incident.
Acting on the information, the SOG team of police in coordination with the Indian Army carried out a search operation in the area. During the operation, the forces arrested a local, Jahangir Ali, and recovered arms and ammunition from him. The seized cache included two pistols, four Chinese grenades, 100 pistol rounds and four pistol magazines.
Police said that during the investigation, it was revealed that the apprehended person was meant to hand over the weapons to Basharat Khan and Sheraz of Surankote. The two persons were also later apprehended by the police.

Police said that the three were associated with the terror outfit JKGF and were given task to carry out terrorist activities in J&K, particularly in Poonch.
Police have lodged an FIR into the matter and an investigation has been started.
