Tourists clear snow from roads as heavy snowfall disrupts life in Valley

As the Intermittent heavy snowfall disrupted the normal life in Jammu and Kashmir, tourists from other states were seen clearing the snow from roads. They also complain that in spite of heavy snowfall, no action was taken by the administration.

Srinagar: While the locals are facing immense difficulties due to snowfall in the Kashmir Valley, tourists from other states of India have also been stranded in their hotels.

In many parts of Srinagar city, the tourists were seen removing snow from the roads.

Tourists from Uttar Pradesh in the Dalgate area of ​​Srinagar city were seen clearing the road themselves instead of waiting for the administration.

Speaking to ETV Bharat, one of the tourists said, "We came to visit Kashmir and then it snowed here and we became helpless. The national highway is closed and plane tickets are not available or are getting expensive. We want to go back home but there is no way. There is no water to drink and the water is very cold. "

While talking about clearing snow from the roads, he said, "It snowed a lot but no action was taken by the administration. There was no way out."

So together with the locals, they tried to remove the snow from the road on their own, he said.

"Though we removed some snow off the roads but vehicles still can't get off the roads properly because there is a lot of snow," he said.

He further said that we hope that may be the conscience of the administration will be awakened when they see us removing the snow.

The area is just two kilometres from Srinagar's Lal Chowk, but the administration has not yet arrived here, he added.

The locals said, "We have raised our grievances with the administration several times but no one has been sent to clear our streets yet. We request the lieutenant governor to consider the matter."

They further said that they request the Lt. Governor to issue orders to remove snow to alleviate the suffering of the people.
