Kulgam: Three terrorists from militant group Jaish-e-Mohammed were killed while three security personnel were injured in an encounter in the Nagnad-Chimmer area of Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam on Friday morning.
"Three army jawans were injured during the exchange of fire and were evacuated to Army hospital. Killed terrorists are from Jaish-e-Mohammed and reportedly include a top terrorist commander known to be an IED expert," said Dilbag Singh, Jammu & Kashmir DGP.
Singh further informed that the IED expert had been involved in several other encounters in the region.
"He was taking instructions from Pakistani handlers & was responsible for a large number of attacks against security forces in the recent past," Singh said adding that, "He was reportedly able to escape from 3-4 encounters, leaving behind a MO4 American rifle in one case."
Indiscriminating materials including, arms and ammunition, have also been recovered by the police in the operation.
Earlier on July 13, two unidentified terrorists were killed in an encounter between militants and security forces in the Anantnag district.

Security forces had launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Srigufwara area of Anantnag district early in the morning following information about the presence of militants there.
Also, three militants were killed in an encounter that raged between security forces and militants in Gulshan Abad Reban village of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on July 12.
Official sources said that an encounter broke out between militants and government forces after contingents of Army’s 22 RR, SOG Sopore and 179 BN of CRPF, 177 BN, 92 BTN, Baramulla QRT and Police cordoned off the Reban village.
On July 11, two terrorists were killed as the Army foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Naugam sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Arms and ammunition, including two AK-47 rifles, were recovered.
