Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir administration has restored 2G mobile internet services, eased the restrictions on movement across several districts. However, the situation resembles that of a curfew as streets remain deserted 16 days after the imposition of restrictions following the modification of Article 370.
The Principal Secretary of Planning Commission in Jammu & Kashmir Rohit Kansal has said that cases of hooliganism and mischievous elements creating disturbances were reported from certain areas but such incidents were dealt with by local security agencies.
In the wake of such reports, security forces are present at multiple roadblocks and most shops remain closed in Srinagar.
According to reports, the cargo facility at the Srinagar International Airport has also been blocked due to the two-week long curfew imposed in the Kashmir Valley, causing a shortage of medicines in medical facilities.
Earlier, the government had decided to lift restrictions imposed in Jammu and Kashmir in a phased manner.
