Srinagar: Rayees Ahmed Dar and Nida Rehman, a Srinagar-based couple, launched a 'food for Kashmir' campaign to help those in need during the pandemic. The couple not only delivers food at the doorsteps of COVID patients but also to doctors and paramedics.

"We had started free home delivery services 'Tiffin Aaw' last year but were forced to shut down due to pandemic. Later we received COVID management training from the administration and since then we are regularly delivering food packages across hospitals in Srinagar," Dar told ETV Bharat.

He further said, "We get distress calls from families where all the members have been infected with Covid and they are not able to cook themselves. They crave for homemade food which we provide them at their doorsteps."

With the outbreak of the second wave of the pandemic, ‘Tiffin Aaw’ has been getting more than 100 delivery orders per day from different hospitals and families.

"The cooking team ensures that the food is fully hygienic and is prepared sans preservatives. We started the campaign with the aim to help people during the pandemic and as such we don’t ask for any payments but if someone pays we don’t refuse it," Dar said adding that the campaign needs full public support.

"We want more people to sponsor meals for covid 19 patients as we are now aiming to deliver food to over 1000 people every day," Dar added.
